Jamie Griffiths Joins Needham Market

JAMIE GRIFFITHS

It was confirmed today that Jamie Griffiths has joined Ryman League Premier Division club Needham Market.

We would like to thank Jamie for an outstanding three years at Melford and wish him all the best for the future.

Jamie scored 56 goals in 77 games for the club and in addition to the Thurlow Nunn First Division Championship medal he won in 2015, he also won two Supporters' trophies, two Top Goalscorer awards and a Manager's Player trophy.

Jamie will always be a legendary figure with the Melford supporters, who regard him as one of the best players to wear the black and white shirt in the club's 150 year history.

It goes without saying we will miss Jamie on and off the pitch but nobody will begrudge him moving up two divisions; the opportunity to play at Step 3 is too good to turn down.

Unfortunately Jamie has not played since last pre-season because of a knee injury. Hopefully he will be back playing again soon, fitter and stronger than ever and showing everyone how good he is at a higher level with Needham Market.

Melford manager Jamie Bradbury said this morning;

" Griff played such a huge role at Melford during the promotion season and first year in the Premier Division, but last year was agonising for him, missing the whole year with his knee injury. Nonetheless, he was absolutely superb behind the scenes and was so committed to remaining part of the squad and helping Jules and I on match days and in training.

For that reason I’m going to miss him from a personal level as he really helped me settle at the club and his professionalism shone through. He’s a true winner and deserves to be playing at the highest level possible. This is a good move for him as he looks to complete his rehab from injury and hopefully soon he’ll be banging in the goals again. Yes, he will be sorely missed, but his departure should be seen as an opportunity for others to step forward and to take on the mantle. "
