Match Report - 29 March 2017

 dan swain

  • Dan Swain played his 100th match for the club tonight.

THURLOW NUNN PREMIER DIVISION

Godmanchester Rovers 2 Long Melford 0

Att: 71

Melford made a good start and Michael Runicles had a header tipped over by Tom Smith in the Godmanchester goal. At the other end Darren Moyes saved comfortably from King. Melford then went close through Will Wingfield, Nathan Rowe and Dan Swain.

On the half hour the home side went in front, a corner on the left saw ROSS MUNRO get his head on the ball which looped very slowly and dropped under the crossbar.

Looking for a good start to the second half, Melford got the opposite with a free kick conceded on the angle of the box and floated into the top corner by ROSS MUNRO.

Wingfield then had a great chance to get Melford back in the game but headed wide when unmarked.

Melford then shot themselves in the foot when Nathan Rowe was quite rightly sent off for an horrendous challenge, ending his season and leaving the ten men to battle on.

To their credit Melford did keep going well with Hassan Ally, Dan Smith and Ryan Dewey all going close and Jack Graham from the Under 16s making his Senior debut.

MELFORD: Darren Moyes, Dan Smith, Josh Collins (Ryan Dewey), TJ LePage, Ashley Skeggs, Anthony Waugh, Sam Bayliss, Dan Swain (Hassan Ally), Michael Runicles, Will Wingfield (Jack Graham), Nathan Rowe redcard
