The visitors to Stoneylands today were a talented Coggeshall Town side, mostly consisting of players who were previously at a higher level. Match report from Chenoberet:

Even with the influence of Olly Murs in their dugout, high-flying Coggeshall still found that The Villagers were no pushover, and indeed over the first period there was not a lot to choose between the two teams.

The turning point came just before half time when Coggeshall drew level courtesy of a defensive lapse by the home team.

It was an entertaining first half with both teams producing some good football with action flowing from end to end.

After 14 minutes Coggeshall came close when star striker Nnamdi Nwachuku turned the Melford defence and was only inches wide with his shot.

At the other end Steve Adams in a striker role saw his downward header hacked off the goal line.

Then for the visitors the tricky Josce Syrett got beyond the Melford back line put in a shot but keeper Darren Moyes saved at full stretch.

After 24 minutes Melford went ahead. Hassan Ally out-paced Coggeshall defender Luke Wilson and was brought down in the box. WILL WINGFIELD converted the penalty kick to score in his 4th consecutive league match.

Back came Coggeshall looking for the leveller and a cross shot from Syrett was cleared off the goal line by Ross Waugh to keep the Melford lead intact.

On 39 minutes the equaliser arrived a long ball forward created hesitation in the Melford back line and in nipped NNAMDI NWACHUKU to race through and fire past keeper Moyes into the corner of the net.

This was followed by three corners on the trot taken by the much travelled Daniel Cunningham which were dealt with by the Melford defence.

As anticipated Coggeshall upped their game over the second period and enjoyed a greater share of possession, and went ahead after 56 minutes.

The goal came from the Melford left flank when JOSCE SYRETT was given time and space and his angled shot found the roof of the net.

This subdued Melford and the third goal then arrived after 65 minutes, CONOR HUBBLE was allowed to run across the Melford box without challenge and he neatly fired home from twenty yards out.

Despite the setbacks Melford continued their efforts and came close with an Adams' header.

A good effort by Melford against a Coggeshall team who will be looking to win the League.
