Overall it was a case of mixed emotions for Melford; after taking the lead twice there will be some disappointment not to win. On the other hand, Gorleston are in very good form at the moment having won their last three matches, so a draw has to go down as a decent result. Match report from Chenoberet:

With a steady rain falling for much of the match and the subsequent greasy surface, both teams provided a good game of football in the circumstances.

The opening period of the game saw Melford controlling the match, playing some neat football.

After thirteen minutes their reward arrived from a David Lopez corner when ANTHONY WAUGH arrived to power in a header from five yards, a classic finish for his first goal after more than 150 appearances for The Villagers.

It could have been two for Melford shortly after, Hassan Ally made space down the Melford flank and his cross found Will Wingfield but his effort was blocked by David Shade one of the visiting central defenders.

As the half progressed Gorleston took over the reins with Jackson Ramm firing a free kick over the bar and Melford keeper Darren Moyes making a great save when Joel Watts was through on goal.

On the half time whistle full back Dan Smith saved Melford with a header off the goal line from a Peter Lambert effort.

Three minutes into the second half and Melford paid the cost of not closing down JOEL WATTS who ran on the diagonal at the Melford goal and fired home a good effort from thirty yards.

The Villagers went ahead after 55 minutes against the run of play, a half way line free kick was spilled under pressure by keeper Scott Foreman and Ally rolled the ball to BEN JUDGE who converted from close range.

Soon after this Melford had a claim for a goal turned down when from a Lopez corner Will Wingfield headed the ball against the cross barm the ball came straight down with Melford claiming it had crossed the goal line only to be cleared by keeper Foreman to safety.

As the game went on to its conclusion Gorleston seemed much stronger controlling the midfield and put Melford under constant pressure.

On 82 minutes the leveller arrived a free kick found the Melford box, with a general melee ensuing, the ball bounced up and NATHAN RUSSELL headed into the net.

Just at the end of the game Melford lost Elliot Walker to injury after a late challenge from Ramm, who perhaps surprisingly to some only collected a yellow card.

So the game ended with a draw,  which was a good reflection of the game overall.
