THURLOW NUNN RESERVE LEAGUE  05 April 2017

FELIXSTOWE & WALTON UNITED RES. 1

LONG MELFORD RES. 2

Att: 39

Melford made a positive start and took the lead on 16 minutes, MICHAEL RUNICLES with a speculative shot from 20 yards that found the target. Shortly afterwards Addy Roy did the same but it was pulled back for offside.

Felixstowe equalised on the half hour, Melford had umpteen chances to clear their lines but the ball finished up in the path of JACK MAPPLEBACK who made no mistake.

Melford were quick out of the blocks at the start of the second half and Jason Joseph twice fired wide when well placed and Runicles and Hassan Ally were always a threat.

Having lost Scott Barnes injured after 20 minutes Melford then had keeper Kieron Flatman stretchered off and Ryan Dewey went between the sticks.

With time running out Melford took the lead when Runicles burst through and keeper Ryan Garnham made a fine point blank save, but Runicles retrieved the loose ball and squared for HASSAN ALLY to tuck nicely into the bottom corner.

There was still time for Dewey to go full stretch and tip behind to earn a memorable victory for Melford.

Man of the match: JAMES TROTT - solid, no nonsense defending that his colleagues can learn a lot from.

MELFORD: Kieron Flatman, Nyasha Majome, Scott Barnes (Carl Joyner), Jason Joseph, James Trott, Stuart Malseed, Hassan Ally, Addy Roy, Michael Runicles, Andre Gydane, Ryan Dewey (Brandon Western for Flatman with Dewey going in goal)

Next match for the Reserves is away to neighbours Cornard United on Saturday (3pm kick off at Blackhouse Lane) - with no First Team fixture again this weekend it would be nice to see supporters get over to Cornard and support the Reserves.
