FOOTBALL IS BACK
Posted on
After a four month break, football is back underway with pre-season training and trials taking place at Stoneylands recently.
Following Saturday's FA announcement, we can play friendly matches in August but it's important to point out these will be behind closed doors as spectators are not allowed at matches, until we're told otherwise.
It does feel trivial talking about football after the loss of lives and livelihoods caused by Covid around the world. But there's no doubt that for millions of people sport has a very positive impact on their physical and mental health. For that reason it's great news that we can play matches in August, albeit without crowds.
It was good to hear Saturday's trial went well, with 25 new faces in attendance. It's not easy playing again after a lengthy break but by all accounts the attitude and standard was very impressive.
Hopefully the new season can get underway in September, although as I understand it this depends on whether crowds are allowed back or not - I'm sure this will become clearer soon.
New faces are always welcome at the club, whether you want to get involved on the pitch or behind the scenes, you'll always be welcome. Contact us and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. AC
