Jamie Griffiths Returns

JAMIE GRIFFITHS RETURNS

We are pleased to confirm that Jamie Griffiths is returning to Long Melford following two seasons away at Needham Market.

The 27-year-old forward, who scored 56 goals in 77 games before moving to Needham at the start of the 2017-18 season, has re-joined the Villagers ahead of the new campaign after the club agreed an initial three-month loan with the Southern League Premier side.

“We’re pleased to have Griff back at Melford, he was a great help to me when he was here previously, and was naturally a fans’ favourite, also. They’ll love to see him in the black and white again,” said manager Jamie Bradbury.

“He obviously brings a lot of quality in terms of his football ability, but more than that he is a top man and has the perfect attitude you look for in a player and will have a positive effect on the whole squad.

“Thanks to Richard Wilkins and all at Needham for making the move happen smoothly, and we’re now looking forward to getting the season started.”

Jamie Griffiths added: “I’ve really enjoyed my last two seasons at Needham, it’s a brilliant club with so many great people, but I’ve had to put my family first.

“The travelling last season meant that I didn’t spend as much time as I wanted to with my son, who was born in December, so I want to get the right balance and feel this is the best option for my family right now.

“I’m truly grateful to Wilks for everything he and the club has done for me during my time at Bloomfields, and for understanding my situation. It’s not been an easy decision to make, by any means, but I thank everyone at Needham for their support.”

He added: “For now, I’m looking forward to returning to Long Melford, playing with the lads at Stoneylands, and working with Bradders again. Hopefully I can help the team achieve more success on the pitch.”

In his first spell at Melford, Jamie was a key part of the club's First Division title winning side in 2015 and also received several individual awards including Supporters' Player (twice), Top Goalscorer (twice) and Manager's Player.
