Match Report v Brantham Athletic (away)

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC 3 - 2 LONG MELFORD

Thurlow Nunn Premier Division - Tuesday 25 February

In terrible conditions with torrential rain lashing down, Melford made a good start and went in front on 19 minutes.

Jamie Griffiths was brought down in the box and NATHAN ROWE made no mistake from the penalty spot.

The Villagers went two up when Ben Judge's excellent corner was fired home by STEVE ADAMS at the far post.

Brantham pulled one back after a good move down the right flank saw JOSS NEALE convert.

And just before half time the referee played a good advantage in Brantham's favour and although Matt Walker made a save, Ipswich Town youth team midfielder TEDDY BAKER was able to stab home the loose ball.

The home side gained the upper hand in the second half and after making a substitution and a couple of switches went in front for the first time, JOSHUA LEE converting from the edge of the box.

As the rain eased so did Melford's performance and Brantham took control of the game, to pick up the three points and leapfrog Melford in the table.

Melford have an instant opportunity to move back into the top six if they can beat Gorleston at Stoneylands on Saturday.

Full marks to tonight's referee who decided to start the game when others wouldn't, and didn't get his cards out once.
