Match Report v Framlingham (h)

LONG MELFORD 1 - 3 FRAMLINGHAM TOWN

THURLOW NUNN PREMIER - SATURDAY 9 FEBRUARY 2019

Following the excellent midweek cup win against Stowmarket Town it was a case of "after the Lord Mayor's Show" for Melford at Stoneylands today. Match report from Chenoberet:

Take nothing away from Framlingham, they fully deserved their victory, whilst the performance from Melford was a long way short of Wednesday's impressive display.

The bottom of the League team went ahead after ten minutes, a nicely floated free kick from the very promising Mason Ransome, found the head of skipper JAMES MAYHEW who headed forcefully into the Melford net.

Not a good start for Melford, but the adversity was soon compounded after 19 minutes when Scott Sloots retaliated after a tackle, and was shown a red card by the referee.

Melford should have levelled on 41 minutes Kieran Michaels released Hassan Ally, and with just the keeper Gary Rose to beat the Melford wide man blazed over the bar.

Despite a slight improvement from Melford in the second period,  Framlingham always looked the better team.

They went further ahead after 69 minutes when an excellent unchallenged run by MASON RANSOME saw his 25 yard shot nestle in the top corner of the Melford net. A goal of some class, although greatly assisted by a retreating Melford defence.

With Melford switching to a three man back line, they were caught on the break after 86 minutes when MAX WILLETT came off the bench to run through the Melford defence and fire home.

Just time in added time for Melford to claw back a goal when Michaels, MOM for the home team once again, ran at the Fram defence and his pass found Ally wide on the left, and his cross was bundled home by EMMANUEL MACHAYA.

LONG MELFORD: Bett, Michaels, Wingfield, Lopez (70), D Roy (45), A Waugh, Ally, Brown, Machaya, S Sloots (sent off 19 mins), Chaves (63)

Subs used: Skeggs (45), Fisher (70) Bayliss (63) not used: Collins
