This was another good point for Melford against in-form opponents, but it was very nearly an even better day. Match report from Chenoberet...

Played at a frenetic pace and entertaining, this game ended with what was a fair result overall. 

It was Kirkley who shone early on forcing three long throws followed by a corner which were repelled by the Melford defence. 

At the other end debutant Lewis Haughton fired wide from a good position. 

The Villagers went ahead after 14 minutes when a through ball from Ashley Sloots found the Kirkley box, keeper Adam Rix hesitated on coming off his line, and STEVE ADAMS got in to fire into the net. 

With play switching from end to end Miguel Lopez came close with a free kick and Melford responded with an effort from Adams which was well wide. 

Three minutes before half time and Kirkley drew level, some trick wing work down the Melford right flank from Liam Harvey-Cooper saw the ball pulled back to KYLE HAYLOCK who fired home from five yards. 

The second half was again fairly even with early on Melford having two efforts cleared on the goal line by keeper Rix. 

Chances at each end with Nathan Rowe lobbing over the bar for Melford and Jordan Haverson shooting wide for the visitors. 

On 82 minutes Melford went ahead when a free kick from the edge of the area was drilled home by SCOTT SLOOTS through the defensive wall. 

With 30 seconds of added time left MAX WALL brought the house down for Kirkley when from thirty yards with a left foot strike he found the net giving keeper Moyes not a chance.

Hardly time for any revival from either team, and a point each was probably about the right conclusion.
