Match Report v Walsham (h)

The pre-match music reminded many that Christmas was not far away, and The Villagers delivered to their ardent supporters every good festive cheer by full delivery of all three points.

The win came through a gutsy and tenacious performance, full of excellent teamwork buoyed by good spirit and morale.

Over the whole game there was not a lot between two evenly matched teams in almost identical league positions, but it was a tremendous strike by Scott Sloots that was pivotal in securing all the points for Melford.

Early in the game chances came and went at both ends, with twenty two minutes being the first real punctuation in the game, when a late challenge in the area saw Melford concede a penalty.

The kick taken by ANDREW CUSACK gave keeper Darren Moyes no chance in the Melford goal.

At the Melford end Sam Peters came very close with a shot on the run for Walsham, whilst the Walsham goal came under some pressure and a Steve Adams header was cleared off the goal line.

Although Walsham edged the first period overall, Melford levelled on 41 minutes when a SCOTT SLOOTS wonder strike from 30 yards curled into the top of the net with keeper Tom Coombe given no chance. A goal to grace any game at any level.

The home team got better over the second half and Ross Waugh came close when his header was cleared off the goal line.

The visitors replied with keeper Darren Moyes making three fantastic saves, the best one a fierce drive from Lee Warren which he tipped over the crossbar.

The winner came after 52 minutes when in a goalmouth melee STEVE ADAMS eventually forced home from close range.

Chances came at both ends but Melford held on to take all the points in what was another epic game for them.  CHENOBERET
