New Facilities

New Facilities FAQs

What is the club proposing?

As part of our 150th anniversary we are launching a project to build new facilities to enable football to thrive within the community.

Long Melford FC and Long Melford Colts & Fillies FC are jointly promoting this initiative and we are now at the stage where plans for the new building have been produced.

The plan includes new changing rooms, a function hall with catering and bar, conference/meeting rooms and leisure facilities accessible for the local community to use and be part of.

Our aim is to create a Sports & Leisure facility that can be used by the wider community and also be the future of both our Senior and numerous Junior Football teams.

What is the time frame?

Over the past year we have been working behind the scenes to get us to a position where we can engage with numerous interested parties on what we are looking to achieve. We are pleased to announce that we are taking forward our proposal with initial plans submitted to the FA for their approval.

We have also submitted our proposal to the District and Parish Councils and have requested that it is included in the Neighbourhood plan.

This is the start of a long process but we aim to be in a position to launch this proposed new build in Summer/Autumn 2018 with the view to building commencing in 2019.

How will the new facilities be completed?

We are looking at completing the new facilities in 2 phases.

PHASE ONE: The new building will be erected on land to the far side of the current main stand. This will allow us to maintain the current facilities whilst building takes place.

PHASE TWO. We will demolish the current buildings and re-design the car parking area.

Whilst phases one and two are being completed we will also be carrying out a number of ground improvements to ensure the whole area incorporated in the plan is brought up to standard and in line with the new building.

How much money needs to be raised?

To enable this initiative to proceed, we require funding from both the private sector and the general public, our aim is to raise c.£500,000.

Although this sounds a huge amount of money, there are numerous opportunities to apply for grants from a variety of organisations, including the FA, Sport England, National Lottery and numerous other bodies, However we need to raise somewhere in the region of £200,000 to £250,000.
