NEXT HOME FIXTURE

LONG MELFORD  v  KEMPSTON ROVERS

(The Emirates FA Cup Prelim, Sat 12 September)

**DOWNLOAD TODAY'S MATCHDAY PROGRAMME**

MATCH DETAILS: Kick off is 3pm at Stoneylands, New Road, Long Melford, CO10 9JY. Admission (by cash at the gate as usual) will be £7 or £4 concessions (that's school children and over 65s).

WEATHER FORECAST: Dry and warm (20°) with sunny intervals, a gentle breeze (12mph).

COVID INFORMATION: There has been some confusion for non-league supporters since the government announced their new 'rule of six'. To clarify, nothing has changed for Step 5 football clubs - we are still allowed up to 300 spectators inside the ground.

Socially distanced supporters are very welcome. Hand sanitiser is available as you enter the ground and in the clubhouse.

The easiest way to leave your contact details is to scan the QR code with your phone (as you enter the clubhouse) or visit this website and enter your details beforehand.

FOOD & DRINK: For alcoholic drinks head to the Licensed Bar, for tea and coffee and hot food visit Debs' Diner.

PARKING: There should be enough spaces in the club car park but it may be a good idea to arrive early. If you have to park in an adjoining road please ensure that you do not block any driveways or restrict access in any way. Our thanks for you cooperation.

THE MATCH: Kempston Rovers play their league football one step higher than Melford (in the Southern League). This will be Kempston's first match of the new season, whereas Melford have played three games.

Whether that's an advantage or not can be viewed both ways - Kempston could be a little fresher or it could be an advantage for Melford to have competitive matches under their belt.

It's early days in the new season but overall Melford will be pleased with the opening three matches. The FA Cup win against Northampton was a fantastic effort coming back from 2-1 down (with 10 men) to win 3-2, while a 1-1 draw in the league at Stanway Rovers was a decent away point.

The only disappointment for the Villagers so far was last Saturday's 4-3 defeat to Norwich United - after fighting back from two goals down to lead 3-2, to not take something from that match felt like rough justice. However on the positive side to score 3 goals against a team with promotion ambitions was an encouraging sign.

A really tough match is in store against higher league Kempston, but Melford as the underdogs have nothing to lose.
