PREVIEW: It's a big week in Melford's season with back-to-back home matches, starting with Norwich United in the league and then the League Cup Semi Final on Wednesday.

Norwich United were relegated back to the Thurlow Nunn Premier in the summer. They started this season well and were up towards the top of the table when they beat Melford 1-0 in September. Since then they’ve had mixed results and are currently 14th, a comfortable 10 points above the relegation zone and will probably be starting to look ahead to their plans for next season.

Last weekend Norwich won 6-1 at Ely City, in a match that saw Ely reduced to 10 men after 20 minutes. It was 1-1 at half-time before Norwich really made the most of their man advantage by putting Ely to the sword with a flurry of late goals, including a hat-trick for new signing Ben Fowkes from Lowestoft Town.

Melford meanwhile also had an impressive away win in their previous match, beating Brantham Athletic 4-2. The previous two home matches against Whitton and Newmarket had seen good performances but in a relegation battle obviously it’s all about results. So it was nice to see an excellent performance at Brantham rewarded with three much-needed points and it will need a similar display against Norwich United to pick up more points.
