Pre Season 2018

PRE-SEASON NEWS

NEW SIGNING  (July 26)

The club is pleased to announce the signing of Pablo Chaves de Nova.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder from Granada in Spain is currently studying in the UK.

Pablo came through the academy at his hometown club, Granada CF, and also had a spell with local Spanish fourth-tier outfit UD Maracena, and most recently Atletico Monachil.

Pablo is a talented young player and we hope he enjoys his football at the club this season.

  • The club is also pleased that midfielder Scott Sloots (9 goals in 55 matches) has put pen to paper. This means all of last season's squad have now re-signed apart from goalkeeper Darren Moyes who has retired and Jose Zarzoso and Lewis Haughton, who have moved away from the area.

The club is pleased to be able to keep the majority of last season’s squad on board, apart from Darren Moyes, who has retired, and Jose Zarzoso and Lewis Haughton, who have moved away from the area.

Joining the club is goalkeeper Glen Morrison. Last season Glen played for Border League champions Gas Recreation. He has impressed in pre-season, making some excellent saves against Needham Market and Bury Town.

Former AFC Sudbury youth midfielders Aaron Pengelly, Cory Willings and Ryan McNicholas, who all joined at the end of last season, are included in the first team squad and will add extra competition for places.

Jake Jackson and Sam Bayliss are home from University and will further strengthen the squad as we head into the new season.

The club is also hoping to confirm at least two more summer signings before the league season begins at home to Gorleston on 4 August.

Manager Jamie Bradbury said today:

"Overall it has been a very pleasing pre-season so far, working closely with our reserves and our new under-18s teams, which have players keen to progress and develop. They will no doubt play their part this season and increase competition for places.

“Training has been good, and the matches have also been very positive, giving the lads valuable match fitness against strong sides and a chance to stake a claim for a starting place on 4 August.”
