Reserves Update

LONG MELFORD RES  4  CORNARD UTD RES  2

(Thurlow Nunn Reserve League, Sat 19 Sep)

  • Jack Delaune scored twice in today's reserve team local derby.

Both teams were guilty of some glaring misses when in front of goal and both teams were guilty of gifting the opposition goals.

The Villagers went ahead after 9 minutes Hassan Ally found space down the Melford left flank his cross found CHARLIE HOLMES who fired home a great shot from 15 yards.

Melford then had three good chances in minutes Richard Daniels fired high and wide from six yards, Josh Collins saw his header cleared off the goal line and finally Jack Delaune through on goal had his shot blocked when three yards out.

On 26 minutes Melford lost Richard Daniels for treatment to a split lip.

The first corner for Cornard arrived on 33 minutes and from that a long range shot deflected off keeper Macauley Rodgers, and in trying to clear Josh Collins could only find his own net.

On 44 minutes Melford were gifted a goal Cornard keeper Will Steward ran off his line and his clearance went straight to JACK DELAUNE who fired into a gaping net.

Cornard came more into the game for the second period with Asa Cansdale and Tom Prentice prominent players.

On 57 minutes after a great run by Alfie Parnell a loose ball came to JACK DELAUNE who neatly found the net.

The Melford lead increased when Deluane and Kyran Quelch interchanged passes and KYRAN QUELCH fired in a tremendous shot for the Melford 4th goal.

On 74 minutes Josh Collins was yellow carded for what looked a minor offence, and having collected a total of two yellow cards, was sent off. Less said the better how that situation was brought to head.

Ten men Melford lost some composure and in the end after some tip tapping across their own box by Melford MICHAL RUDZINSKI nipped in to take advantage of some sloppy play.  CHENOBERET
