THURSDAY 16 NOVEMBER 2017

The management team look ahead to tomorrow night's home match against Stanway Rovers (7.45pm ko).

It was at the back-end of August that we last faced Stanway Rovers, in a tight game that we managed to edge with the only goal coming late in the second half. It’s fair to say, though, that since then much has changed in the on-field fortunes of both teams.

While we have enjoyed a fairly decent spell of late which has seen us pick up some good results and our confidence rise, Stanway have been flying and, sitting ten places above us in the table, will be a very tough proposition.

In most games this season, we are well aware that we will be underdogs and it is actually a role which we have started to relish. Every single player has been working their socks off for the team and for the cause whenever they have had their chance, and it is the best way a side like us can approach games.

Looking back at Saturday's win at Newmarket Town, when we missed the penalty at 2-0 down, we did think that it might not have been our day. But it only spurred the lads on more and it wasn’t long before Steve Adams had bagged twice to bring us level. When the equaliser came, it wasn’t against the run of play, and despite the referee finding nine minutes of stoppage time from somewhere, we never looked like surrendering the lead.

To come back in that fashion once, at Yarmouth with ten men, was good, but to do it again only a couple of weeks later was brilliant and made everyone’s Saturday afternoon. It was also pleasing to see how happy the fans who made the trip to Newmarket were, your support is truly appreciated so to give you something to really smile about was great.

We’ll need that kind of performance again tomorrow night if we are to get anything from a strong Stanway side that is moving swiftly up the table"
